...and to all those haters begging for the "old Common", respect the artist and his will to expand his creativity. One thing about art is that you can't always please everyone. And one thing about creativity is that you always need to come up with something new and original. I personally must say that while listening to couple hours of Common it's nice to hear a few bumping tracks in the mix every now and then.

i definitely agree with you that his older stuff is better than his newest album. it's an opinion many people share. and maybe it is even ringtone rapper status. but the fact that it's better than a lot of dudes' music who only make ringtone rapper music is testament to brother common's skill. let's just hope that for the sake of the majority of his fans, his next album will revert back to something more meaningful

Can't go back to the old Common cause he ain't the old Common. As an artist you gotta go where inspiration takes you. He's never been afraid to switch up his style and try something new like Electric Circus(which I hated when it came out but it's still in my rotation of albums now). So if you can't get with UMC it's okay cause his next album probably won't sound anything like it.

Common, go back to your own self. dont go with the kanye flow your trying to pull. you had your own style, and your lyrics meant something. to be honest i was so disappointed with UMC i lost the cd and i didnt even look for it. go back to the flow you had on the light, i want you, the people, etc. just a little advice. Then Kanye comes in with a college scenario. But I didn't like his verse about "It's his commandment, you don't have to ask Moses". DMX? as you should now realize I am the mother 20 something sons that know all about you and are trying to enlighten me Gucci will probably not be in my playlist DMX some, Common I need a little more time what I heard i liked, I have a not for profit here in Chicago PUT DOWN THE GUN PICK UP THE MIC afterschool program Hip Hop I booked DMX to perform on 10/30 in Chicago Fundraiser went to the alderman Ed Smith to ask what I needed to have this event in his neighborhood he informed me that all I needed was a letter from him for a Liquor License we also asked for a blockparty permit for the younger children that permit I got the next day, at 10am the police in full force came and shut us down since are event wasn't starting until 9pm they stayed until midnight over 30 police officers all because I did not have the proper premits all because I was assured by the alderman that I did not need anything I was on private property my mistake,very expensive lesson learned my point in all this is was I really shut down because of paperwork or was it because the reputation of rappers, hip hop, had I had Michael Buble, Taylor Swift would I have had all those police officers there??? Common help us help the children in Chicago please help, Moms are burying their babies the real war is here adriadrimar@aol.com

I wanted to share a news story, recently featured on CBS local news for Los Angeles/KCAL-9, on a stage play called “Phi’LA The Musical” that will premier on Monday, October 12 at LA Live Club Nokia. What is unique about this production is that they are busing 1500+ area H.S. students to see the play for FREE because the message of youth anti-violence and Black and Brown racial unity is significant to finding solutions in our community. They are headed by a Non-Profit Organization, who is trying to raise funds to do a national tour as a vehicle to discover solutions to the growing epidemic of Youth Violence.
